Quick Search feature. Uniden USDS100

This feature lets you look for activity on the ‘fly’.

Just remember that this feature uses the pre-set modulation and step size already in the band plan configuration.

You cannot change any step size or modulation via this feature.

Turn the Scanner on and start scanning any pre-configured favorite.

Push the Channel button. (Right button, above the 3 key)

(Scanner can even be in a Trunking mode - channel hold will hold on the current control or voice channel)

The current frequency will now be in HOLD mode.

(Current held frequency will be displayed)

Type in the frequency you wish to start your search from.

 Example - 412.1375

(By default this frequency will have a band plan setting of Modulation - NFM and a step size of 12.5 kHz)

Once you have typed in the new frequency - push the Channel button again to go into Quick Search Mode.

(DO NOT PUSH E.Yes this will go directly to the  ‘Quick Save Frequency’ menu.)

 Then push the Resume button

(Same as channel button but re-named in this mode)

The Scanner will now start scanning upwards using the default band plan settings.

Use the volume dial to scroll up or down the frequency search.

Once you find activity you can use other menu selections to either save it or keep scanning.

To go back to your original Scan - push the ‘to scan’ button. (Left button above the 1 key)

How to quick save a frequency in the USDS100

Put the Scanner into Scan mode then push the Channel button (Far Right button under the screen above the 3)

While the Scanner is in Channel Hold mode, type in your frequency.

Example – 475.0625

Once entered – push the E.Yes button.

Yes=”E” / No=”.”

Push the E.Yes button to store the entered frequency.

(The Scanner automatically creates a Quick Save Favorite to store this entry.)

The screen will then display the saved frequency with Edit Name highlighted.

At this point you can make changes to the stored frequency as you would any other conventional type of frequency.

(See manual)

You can tag it with a name, change the Modulation (FM NFM etc) or even allocate a service type and many other options.

If you don’t wish to edit the frequency (give it a name etc), skip this step and push the Scan button – far left under the screen.

Processing, Please Wait will appear briefly.

The Scanner will now save the entered frequency in the automatically created Quick Save Favorite and resume scanning.

You now need to give that Quick Save Favorite a dedicated quick key number so you can turn it on or off via the keypad.

If you don’t allocate a favorite quick key – the Quick Save Favorite will scan by default.

Push the Menu pad.

Set Scan Selection will be highlighted.

Once you have selected your preferred number – push E.Yes

The previous menu will appear.

You can now put the Scanner back into Scan mode.
